![]() Tuesday, July 13, 2004"Jeopardy!" update
I got a call at work today from "Jeopardy!" The bad news is that this wasn't the call, that they wanted me to be a contestant. The good news is that I don't have to be a contestant against wunderkind Ken Jennings, at least not yet. (Actually, I should have guessed they wouldn't be calling me to be a contestant right now, since I've got plans for the last two weeks of August.)
The call did cause an amusing, brief flurry of excitement in my office, though. What they wanted was to add some information to my file that they've started collecting on all potential contestants: whether or not we know anyone who's been on "Jeopardy!" I only mentioned Maggie Bandur and Steve Tanner, because I was pretty sure they didn't care about people we've corresponded with via message boards and such (including Ken Jennings), as well as people I've met in the world of Internet game show fandom. I think I'll drown my sorrows in They Might Be Giants' brand-new album, which I bought on the way home from work. So far, it's worth the price solely for containing an actual studio version of one of my favorite TMBG songs, "Thunderbird," which I had heretofore heard only in a live bootleg version. ![]() |
