![]() Friday, June 17, 2005Not missing the bus
"Dick Cheney is a sex symbol. Bigger than Shaft. They're fascists, murderers, they kill people, but you gotta love 'em."
Those are most of the words I could make out spoken by a guy sitting next to me on the 156 bus this evening who was carrying a trash bag full of smelly cans (presumably for recycling purposes) and a copy of The Nation. He wasn't really talking to me, thanks to my trendy iPod earbuds that, yes, actually were plugged into an iPod, just talking to everyone in the back of the bus in general. That's right, now that I've had a new job since Monday (as a video logger), I'm commuting by bus because my new employer doesn't provide free parking or transit, and since the bus route is reasonably convenient (mere steps from my apartment and two blocks from my office), I'd rather give my money to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority than to some shady parking lot operator. I even have a pass, thanks to the fact that they have a "semi-monthly" option (my current pass is valid for unlimited rides June 16th through June 30th), but I'll be switching to the monthly pass as of July 1st. ![]() |
