![]() Saturday, September 23, 2006What's all this, then?
It's been about four months since I started driving to and from work along the south perimeter of Bob Hope Airport. Today, for the second time, I saw someone with a video camera and tripod standing just outside the fence at the south end of the north-south runway (planes take off to the south under normal circumstances), having a chat with a couple of airport policemen. Both times have been on Saturday; the first time, there were two people involved who had parked their SUV right there, in what is a no-stopping zone, but this time there was just one person and no vehicle nearby.
The first time, I had assumed the conversation with the police involved why it's not a good idea to be parked in a no-stopping zone and taking video of planes taking off, but with today's incident, I wonder if the conversation was more along the lines of trespassing (presumably, the airport owns the grass strip on which the cameraman was standing, between a sidewalk and the fence) or "homeland security."
